![]() ![]() Literally getting stronger with every subsequent hit. Hand of Melania with the shard of Alexander, rotten curved sword talisman and millicents prosthesis makes me feel like a whirlwind of death. I've never cared too much for river's weapon art so it just augments the blood build up lost by maining HoM. I currently main hand the hand of Melania and off hand Rivers of blood. I have been trying to find my perfect katana build for almost 500 hours. Event though its weapon art was a bit wonky, it had its time and place. In dark souls 3, I found onikiri and ubadachi and never looked back. The lost variant hit for a ridiculous amount of damage if you stacked bloodtinge gems. (when poison was at its best, except in the sunken king dlc) I made a savage skill/blood tinge Chikage build in bloodborne. In OG I used the washing pole, its two handed R2 was broken (in a good way) letting you stay far away from your ceptively far away. I've been using katanas in souls game since dark souls 1. The greatest enemy in the caverns is the damn clock.I'm gonna go on a bit of rant that will probably get some hate but that's ok. Not only does this mitigate bomb damage (excluding mega bomb), but most enemies barely do any damage. I recommend using the forge to craft a couple of rings to 2x crabshell ring (total +10 defense). One thing to note: an attack sword isn't much help if you don't prepare for the caverns. I'd fuggin love to see the true form of this weapon. I'm very disappointed we can't upgrade the Lava Katana in the same way as a galaxy weapon. Upgrading the Lava Katana with 3x aquamarine is very helpful, but since its base damage isn't improved, the gain of the +25 crit power isn't much in comparison. Note: fully upgraded means the Qi purchases must be made because each of these increases the base damage in its final form. There is no equivalent to a fully upgraded galaxy sword. A fully upgraded galaxy sword with 3x aquamarine is a fuggin one-hit killing machine in the regular mines, and can take out 30% of critters in the caverns with one hit (like mummies and serpents). However, things change once the forge is introduced. The speed of the GS can produce higher dps, but the +25 crit +3 defense and +3 weight (knockback) can be invaluable for those weak in defense. addition) so the increased damage from the weapon outweighs any attack buff from food.īoth swords are comparable without upgrades. But weapon speed is not something you can make up for (without animation cancelling) and I'm not 100% sure how attack buffs work, but I assume it's the same as defense (i.e. Defense isn't *as* useful because you can eat food to make up for it. ![]() Crit isn't that useful because of that 1.5% of a crit hit. TLDR: Galaxy Sword has a much better attack, so the stats don't matter as much.ĮDIT: GS has 60-80, so 3 hits (2.1) to kill a serpent, but my statistics skills aren't good enough to justify thisĮDIT 2: Alright I figured it out. That means that it takes at least 3 hits (2.5) to kill a serpent with a LK, and 2 hits (1.67) with the GS on average. The biggest argument in favour for the galaxy sword is the damage. *And*, you can move away really quickly after you hit too, so it's easier to change directions. While these stats are nice, the weapon speed of the galaxy sword is pretty invaluable (for people new to skull caverns at least), as you can just spam your sword at enemies and you're very unlikely to get hit. But the lava katana only has a 1.5% chance of landing that crit strike.Īs with defense, a serpent has a base damage or 23, so +3 defense will reduce that to 20.
